To the untrained eye, all silicone skirt tabs look the same. To the jig builder, the difference is in the durometer (softness) and the cure.
The Durometer Factor Cheap silicone is stiff. It requires a fast retrieve to create action. Premium silicone (like the material found in Easy Kasting reserves) is soft. It flares instantly upon the pause. This “flare” is what mimics the gills of a dying baitfish. If your material is too stiff, you are fishing a dead stick.
Batch Consistency & Storage Silicone tabs are sold in “pads” or “hanks” (usually 10-packs or bulk caches). The biggest issue in the supply chain is “Old Stock.” Silicone that sits in a warehouse for 3 years collects dust and loses its vibrancy.
